Wehrenberg Theatres Galaxy 14 Cine Premieres Feb. 1
Wehrenberg Theatres Expanding to Central Illinois

Bloomington-Normal residents will be seeing stars bigger and brighter than ever when the Galaxy 14 Cine – Bloomington opens for business. Wehrenberg Theatres will debut the beautiful, state-of-the-art facility to the public Friday, February 1. The megaplex will house 14 screens in a free-standing facility near Rte. 9 and Hwy. 55 as part of The Westgate Plaza at Interchange City West and Wylie Dr. Ten screens will showcase digital projection with crisp images and an incredible range of color - over 35 trillion shades!

All auditoriums will feature stadium-seating, dynamic Dolby Digital Sound with sub-bass enhancements and wall-to-wall screens. One auditorium will house over 450 seats, making it the largest auditorium in central Illinois. This auditorium will also showcase Wehrenberg’s new “Mega-Screen,” a massive 64-foot wide by 32-foot high screen filling an entire wall. The Galaxy 14 Cine - Bloomington will be only the third theatre in the circuit equipped with this innovation. The enormous auditorium will also boast the best technology, featuring crystal-clear digital sound and digital projection with sharp color and contrast.

This amazing theatre will not only include technologies previously unseen in Bloomington-Normal, but certain Wehrenberg staples will be built-in as well. All auditoriums will surround guests in the full comfort of Wehrenberg’s plush “snuggle-seats” with cupholder armrests. “Snuggle-seats” allow guests to raise armrests out of the way for more room, or so couples can sit closer.

One more amazing innovation sure to be a huge hit is digital 3-D capability. Unlike 3-D films of the 80s, today’s technology offers incredible clarity and truly eye-popping 3-D images. Gone are the cheesy glasses with red and blue lenses; in their place are more sophisticated polarized lenses offering full ranges of color! You truly have to see it to believe it.

Fortunately, the Galaxy 14 will offer a great opportunity to experience this 3-D effect when Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds leaps off the big screen! Disney’s teen icon performs in a digital 3-D concert (with an appearance by the popular Jonas Brothers). Young fans of Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus will not want to miss this concert event, playing for one exclusive week only! Tickets are already on sale (and going fast) at Wehrenberg’s website – www.wehrenberg.com.

The Galaxy 14 will provide a total entertainment experience beyond the best possible way to enjoy new films. An expanded Family Entertainment Area will house the most advanced electronic games along with the most popular redemption games.

Fred’s Drive-In, another Wehrenberg innovation quickly becoming a guest favorite, debuts in Illinois with the Galaxy 14 Cine - Bloomington. Fred’s offers guests fun foods not commonly associated with theatre fare. The expanded menu boasts delicious items such as pizza, ice cream, chicken strips and toasted ravioli, a traditional St. Louis appetizer in which ravioli is breaded and deep fried. Food can be enjoyed in Fred’s seating area, designed to look like a nostalgic 50’s diner, or it can be taken into the auditoriums.

Of course, traditional concessions like hot, buttered popcorn, ice-cold soda and all the favorite candies will be available at the vast concession stands. Also, complete party rooms will be available for children’s birthday parties, and the spacious auditoriums are perfect for group and corporate events.

Wehrenberg Theatres currently operates fifteen cines in Missouri, Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa. The Galaxy 14 Cine – Bloomington will mark the sixteenth.
